Improve Browser Performance (Clear Cache in Edge & Chrome)
Purpose
To improve browser performance and resolve loading issues by clearing cached files in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.
Applies To
All staff using Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome to access business applications, including VB6 System.
Symptoms / Problem
- VB6 System dashboard not responding or freezing
- Web applications slow to load or stuck
- Buttons or forms fail to load properly
- General browser slowness
Environment
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome
Cause
Browser cache can become full or outdated, causing web applications (including VB6 System) to stop responding or perform poorly.
Steps / Resolution
Quick Shortcut: You can open the clear browsing data menu quickly by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Delete on your keyboard.
Microsoft Edge
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete OR click the three dots (⋯) in the top-right corner
- Select Settings
- Go to Privacy, search, and services, then Clear browsing data
- Under Delete browsing data, click Choose what to clear
- Set Time range to All time

Select:
- Cached images and files
- Cookies and other site data (optional)
- Browsing history will also be removed
- Click Clear now
- Close and reopen the browser
Google Chrome
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete OR click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner
- Select Settings
- Go to Privacy and security
- Click Delete browsing data
- Set Time range to All time

Select:
- Cached images and files
- Cookies and other site data (optional)
- Browsing history will also be removed
- Click Clear data
- Close and reopen the browser
Important Note
Clearing cache will remove website history, saved files, and stored sign-ins for some sites. You may need to re-enter login details afterwards.
Validation
- Reload the browser tab for VB6 System (or the web app you were using)
- Confirm pages load correctly and performance improves
- Web forms and dashboards respond normally
Additional Notes
This fix applies to Power Apps and any other web platform that may become slow or unresponsive.
Clearing cache is a safe and routine troubleshooting step for resolving browser-based performance issues.
